Why This Charity is Unique
We like to think of Elephant Thoughts as leading the initiative to create a new form of charity. One built on the principles of self-sustainability and the ability to grow itself. We pride ourselves on not duplicating the resources and work of others, and not competing with other NGO’s for funding, but rather working with them to achieve our like goals.
We attribute our success not only to passion and unparalleled drive but also to three very unique strengths:
- A charitable model built with a business model at heart, the only difference is we are helping people not ourselves
- A sincere and tangible drive to partner and share with other organizations and charities
- A major resource for teachers, volunteers and members who both operate and create this amazing tool
We achieve this by building our charity on a business model where 80% of the charity’s income is earned through our own initiatives. The exciting part is that each of those initiatives is born of our charitable mandate itself, they all serve the purpose of advancing education globally and helping kids.
This gives us many strengths including:
- A revenue stream that grows every year as the business model grows creating a solid foundation for our organization. We are not dependent on outside funding.
- The ability to pick and choose which funding we apply for. It is not uncommon for Elephant Thoughts to decide to pull out of a funding competition or not apply for one based on not wanting to win out over another NGO.
- The ability to work based on need, not politics, as our major funding is controlled by our board, not governments.
- The ability to offer our donors a very special situation: 100% of their contribution goes to the intended recipient, we cover the administrative costs.
- The ability to help more and more kids every year in more and more countries and communities.
