A Resource for Other NGO’s
One of the most unique aspects of this charity is the drive to help the entire NGO community. We develop resources and give them free of charge to other NGO’s to use in their mandates. These resources include infrastructure, fund raising resources, and educational programs. We created a volunteer network that we open to all local NGO’s to take advantage of. We openly share all of our resources and programs with other NGO’s and put our resources behind their cause to help them fulfill their mandate.
We recognized from the very beginning that operating a charity is entering into the collective mandate of all charities-to help those in need.
Operating a charity is not about satisfying or inflating our own name and it is not about our own gain in any sense, other than the satisfaction of helping others. That is why you will never see any Elephant Thoughts literature that celebrates any given individual from our founders to directors. We operate as an organization, a collective of passionate teachers and educators.
With this governing principle in place, it seems unarguable that using our resources to help other charities is one of the best uses of them. Rather than spending a lot of time and development expenditures, we find organizations who have done this already and prop up their efforts. We would far rather partner with an existing reputable NGO working in the developing world than initiate our own projects there and duplicating the already tremendous and expensive learning curve the other organization has gone through. We sincerely believe in this type of idealism and feel that in order to work ‘for the greater good’, this is the only way to achieve our goal.
Elephant Thoughts is setting itself up to be a hub for other NGO’s to use our infrastructure, asset base, knowledge base, and passion to further their like causes.
