Projects that Need Support Now

Each year Elephant Thoughts receives many requests for assistance with various projects overseas.  So many of them are valuable projects, with reliable and trustworthy individuals working hard in their country to make a difference for the less fortunate.  Unfortunately, the Schools 4 Schools program can only support a limited number of projects, and many of them do not end up in our Schools 4 Schools ‘Catalogue of Needs’.

This is your chance to help.  If you are able to help support one or more of these projects, please contact tara [Email address: tara #AT# elephantthoughts.com - replace #AT# with @ ].

New Haven Nursery, Cairo, Egypt

new haven53Nako is a compassionate young woman who has a dream to education the children of her country.  She has been running New Haven Nursery,a successful not-for-profit nursery out of a small apartment.  Currently, 50 toddlers, many of whom are Sudanese refugees between the ages of 1 and 5, are receiving care.  This nursery has been a great support to marginalized women, who in the past had no other choice but to leave their children at home unattended, while they went to work as cleaning women.  Unfortunately these mothers can not afford more than one meal a day so nutrition is of great concern.  The children are suffering from malnutrition, including a lack of calcium and other vitamins, which is affecting their vision.

Please help the New Haven Nursery with the following:new haven39[1]
