- The international projects to be supported by the donation gift program are created and implemented by our Elephant Thoughts staff. ET staff visit Tanzania and India and decide where the most need is and develop a plan and budget to meet this need. We have a close hand in how donation dollars are spent, and we are able to see the project through from start to finish.
- We spend a large amount of our resources working in remote areas of Canada and are very experienced in delivering First Nations and Inuit programs. We have delivered programming on over 150 reserves across the country and have a very successful track record that has made us a leader in First Nations and Inuit education.
- Because of our business model, we can guarantee that 100% of donations go to the intended projects or programs, and nothing is used for administrative costs. Our admin costs are covered through ventures like special events and retail programs, such as the store and catalogue. How does that compare?
- World Vision – 80% of each dollar goes to the cause, 20% goes to administration costs
- Free the Children – approximately 10% is spent on administration
What Inspired Gifts are available?
With each gift you purchase you will receive a postcard with a photo and description to give your recipient. You can either have the postcard mailed to you or sent directly to your recipient. Now that’s easy gift giving!

Inspired Giving in Canada
First Nations and Inuit Comprehensive Education Program – $5,000. (or any denomination!) – for $5,000. you 
can provide an entire school with inspiring, hands on, curriculum based activities for A WHOLE WEEK! These programs increase attendance, engage students and make learning fun. Our highly skilled teachers also work with the school’s teachers through professional development workshops. We work in the most remote areas of Canada to deliver our award-winning programs to kids who would not otherwise have the opportunity due to geographic or economic barriers.

Sponsor a child to attend summer camp – $190. 
Not all children have the opportunity to attend camp. Give the gift of memories that will last a lifetime! Children eligible for sponsorship are selected by local principals and other children’s welfare agencies within the area. To change the life of a local child send them to one of the most interactive, exciting, whiz bam boom camps this summer!

Inspired Giving in Tanzania
Desk and chairs – $60
It’s not easy learning while sitting on a dirty, dusty floor with biting bugs. Your gift of a bench desk and chairs will ensure that 3 kids will be able to stand up off the floor and sit down comfortably from now on. And when there is no distraction from discomfort, these Tanzanian kids can focus on what really matters -learning!

Sponsor a girl to attend Girls Club – $25
Girls Club is a selected group of girls who will attend workshops after school on a regular basis. These workshops empower the girls by teaching about women’s issues, such as hygiene, sexually transmitted diseases and more. With their new found knowledge, these girls become mentors and will then teach the other girls in their school. $25 pays fees for one girl for a month.

The School Sustainability Project – $ your choice!
In partnership with the community, your gift will help turn struggling schools into places of learning and growth. The School Sustainability Project in Tanzania results in schools in the Igoma region becoming thriving hubs of the community, in turn helping to break the cycle of poverty. Inspired Giving India
School supplies for a student – $25
Imagine trying to learn and take notes without paper and pencils! This challenging task is a reality for many kids in India. Your gift of school supplies will provide a child with paper, pencils, a backpack and more – all the tools they need to succeed.
Lunch program for a kindergarten class – $150
It’s not easy learning with a hungry belly. Your gift will provide lunch for an entire class of kindergarten kids (that’s about 32 kids!) for a month. They can now forget about their hunger and focus on what’s really important – learning! For many kids this is their only meal of the day.
Books and supplies for the traveling library – $50
The library is a vehicle for promoting literacy and fostering a love of reading the remote communities of northern India – literally! Your gift of books and supplies will provide this mobile library with the tools it needs to spread literacy and help break the cycle of poverty.
Child Sponsorship Program
Want to change the life of a child forever? Sponsor a child in India or Tanzania and you will be providing them an opportunity to attend school. For $145 per year, your sponsorship will cover the costs of tuition, uniform, school supplies as well as some money for the family. In return, you will receive a photo of your child, a hand written letter and the satisfaction of knowing you are directly improving the life of a child.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE DONATIONS FOR A SPECIFIC PROJECT EXCEED THE NEED?
There is a lot of need! However, in the event that donations exceed the need, the donations will be applied to another Elephant Thoughts project in the same region. None of the money will go to administrative costs, all will go to development projects. In the case of child sponsorship, we are always able to take more children into the program as the need here is endless.
Inspired gifts over the amount of $25 will eligible for a tax receipt. Tax receipts are mailed in January.
